ChatGPT Goes Mobile: OpenAI Launches Dedicated App for Smartphones

an experimental project with no intention of monetizing it as a market product. However, with the overwhelming success it has achieved in stealing the spotlight to this day, the company has started gradually transforming it into a product, specifically since the introduction of a paid subscription.

Now, the company is taking the second step to turn ChatGPT into a comprehensive product by converting it into a dedicated application for smartphones. Although OpenAI did not previously discuss taking such a step, we were all surprised by the official release of the ChatGPT application for iOS systems, with the company confirming that an Android version of the ChatGPT application is coming "soon."

The application is available for free and supports synchronization with the web version, which means you can start a conversation on your smartphone and continue it on your personal computer. The notable feature of the application is that it is powered by an open-source "Whisper" model, designed for speech recognition, allowing you to interact vocally with artificial intelligence.

The application supports iPhone and iPad devices, and you can download it from the Apple App Store here. Unfortunately, the company has clarified that the application is only available to residents of the United States, with plans to make it available in more countries in the coming weeks. However, you can easily switch your store to the U.S. store and then download the ChatGPT application.

It is worth mentioning that the application has been released for less than a day and is already classified as the top productivity application within the Apple App Store.

The company also explained through its official blog that the free application includes a similar paid subscription to the one found in the web version, which will grant subscribers exclusive access to the new GPT-4 model. It is important to note that it only works on iOS version 16.1 and higher.

We believe that the launch of a dedicated ChatGPT application will have a significant impact on the popularity of Bing, Microsoft's GPT-based alternative. Although OpenAI is a subsidiary of Microsoft, we do not know how the Windows operating systems manufacturer will benefit from this move. However, in general, it is exciting to see ChatGPT in its own application, and we hope it will be released in more countries soon!
